They have to eat, but what is the best food? It really has become such a dilemma and a hot topic as well. Not only do we have to figure out what type of diet is best for our dogs, but then we have to find the brand with those ingredients, and then we have to find the brand we trust with those ingredients.
It is a complex and difficult decision, and it is made more so by all the recalls of dog food, which have affected nearly every manufacturer.
Recently, the FDA issued a warning letter to Evanger’s Dog and Cat Food Company. They found that no lamb was actually present in a Lamb & Rice food, and no duck was actually found in the Grain-free Duck food.
Over the years I have fed Evanger’s occasionally, but I admit that I am not loyal to one brand. Apparently my dogs have cast iron stomachs because this never seems to disturb their digestion and I do enjoy providing some variety. My reasoning is that I may have a better chance at avoiding feeding a tainted food for an extended period of time in that way.
Of course there are always two sides to every story and this story is no exception.
Read the letter the FDA sent http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/EnforcementActions/WarningLetters/ucm255000.htm and then read Evanger’s response and tell me what you think http://www.evangersdogfood.com/about/warning_Letter.html. It is very interesting! What do you think about this?
I have a feeling this may be a long story!
